Policies For Boarding and Daycare
Whether it be your dog, other dogs or our staff, safety is our top priority here at Animal House. This is why we require all dogs attending Animal House are required to have the following:
- Up to date vaccination records with the following vaccines: Bordetella, Rabies & DAPP. A physical or electronic copy must be on hand for us to accept your dog.
- Temperament Evaluations: this takes roughly 2 hours and will be completed on the first day of daycare or prior to the first day of boarding. This is to ensure your dog is not aggressive with other dogs or people. Note, if your dog passes the initial evaluation but starts showing signs of aggression at a later date, they will be subject to an additional evaluation at the staffs discretion.
- Signed Waivers and forms on file: Owners are required to sign a liability waiver, non-prescription medication waiver (if needed), and New Customer Registration Form (See below).
- Dogs over 1 year of age must be Spayed or Neutered. Unfortunately we are not able to take unaltered animals at this time. This is for the safety of all the animals on site.
Kennels are thoroughly cleaned between dogs using veterinary grade disinfectant. This targets canine specific viruses/ bacteria such as Distemper, Parvo Virus and Bordetella, just to name a few. Floors are mopped and kennel walls are sprayed and wiped every. single. time. This disinfectant is used for all areas.
Our indoor common area is cleaned nightly with a mop once all the daycare dogs are gone for the day and boarding dogs are put up for the night (or they play outside while it dries). A fan is used to circulate the air and help everything dry faster. Staff are required to wait until the floor is dry before they leave to ensure no dogs have a negative reaction to the cleaning products.
The indoor play area is cleaned after every use using a mop. This ensures the area is prepped and ready for the next group of dogs to safely play!
Couches are sprayed nightly with a vinegar, dawn and water mixture to help keep them sanitary. Towels, blankets or sheets are draped over each couch and are changed as needed. This helps keep the couches in better condition and allows us to extend their life here at Animal House. Once couches reach the end of their life, they are disposed of and replaced.
The biggest concern for our outdoor area is feces. Dog poop is picked up as soon as it hits the ground and we do a sweep of the yard at the end of every night to pick up any that were missed. During the summer, pools and obstacles are sprayed down at the end of each day and fresh water is used as needed for the pools.
For all our indoor areas, urine, feces or any other bodily fluid are immediately cleaned up. Water bowls for all areas are changed daily and fresh water is offered around the clock. Veterinary grade disinfectant is used to clean all areas.
